Yes, it really is free and you don't have to use VOIP or some Internet connection. You just dial the domestic access number that is on the website.

So what's the catch? I haven't seen one so far. I've been to the website and have read a number of articles by people who have used the service.



The one possible catch is that you have to dial an access number in Iowa. So you might have to pay long-distance rates to Iowa. However, most of us have unlimited long-distance calling plans so even that will probably be free. Just use your free cell phone minutes or make sure that you call at a time when you have unlimited long distance.

So where can you call? There is a drop down list on the website that has an access list of 54 countries as of January 14th, 2007. Check the website often to see if they have added additional countries.



You don't need any special equipment to use the service. Just use your regular telephone or cell phone. You can even use PC based Internet services if you want to.



You don't have to signup for anything. You can place an unlimited number of calls to any of the countries that FuturePhone provides service to.
